Leah’s brow furrowed. “What are you getting at? Just be direct with me.”

Bennett didn’t hesitate. “You've seen the mess we're in. The company’s gone under, our assets are gone, and
we're struggling to keep up. I've been thinking a lot about it lately. So here’s what | propose: Use the Nelsons’
connections or find a way to get smoney from the company to helpget back on my feet.”
Leah felt a wave of disgust at Bennett's blatant request but quickly dismissed his suggestion. “Are you out of
your mind? There's no way I'm involving myself with the Nelsons, and | certainly don’t have any money to give
you.”
“Leah!” Bennett's tone grew sharp. “Don’t you see? The truth is clear-Charmaine is indirectly responsible for
Milo’s death, and yet, no one’s done anything about it. If it were anyone else, would they just let it go like this?
No matter what they say, they're still family!”
He leaned in closer. “This tit’s Milo, but who's next? If the Nelsons start to get suspicious and uncover
something, they'll turn on you without a second thought. Don’t let their fake kindness fool you. If you want peace
in your life, you need to take control, get the power, and hold the money, you get me?”
Leah pressed her lips tight, remaining silent. Bennett, noticing her hesitation, didn’t push further. “Just think
about it. Your mom and | won't hurt you. We don’t want to be a burden. Once we're back on our feet, we can
move abroad and live a life of ease. It'll be better than anything else.”

Leah walked out of the tea room and returned to the Nelsons’ home. As soon as she stepped inside, she
overheard Olympia speaking to Jonah in the living room.
Olympia’s voice trembled. “Have you heard anything about your brother?”
Jonah responded with a deep, determined tone. “Mom, | won't stop looking. I'll keep searching for Milo
until I find him.”
Leah tightened her grip on her phone, fingers pressing hard into the device.
Suddenly, the phone buzzed in her hand. Startled, she loosened her grip and the phone slipped, hitting the floor
with a loud thud.
“Who is it?” Jonah asked sharply, stepping into the living room and noticing Leah picking up the phone.
Leah offered a soft smile. “It's me, Jonah.”
Jonah'’s expression softened. “Leah? Why are you back so late?”
She casually tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. “I had a meeting with a client for the company after
school.”
Her mind briefly flashed to the message from Veronica, boasting that Emyr had helped secure her spot at a
diplomatic summit.
Leah's eyes narrowed slightly as she spoke with a teasing edge, “Jonah, do you think I could attend the
summit?”
Jonah raised an eyebrow. “The list of attendees has already been set. Are you serious about going?”
Leah shrugged with a soft smile. “I thought it might be a good opportunity to broaden my horizons,
improve muelf Who knows mouha one day | can haln von with comathing”

Olympia emerged from the room, her eyes still red from crying. Leah couldn't resist walking over and hugging
her. “Mom...
Olympia returned the hug, holding Leah’s hand tightly. “Sweetie, a girl can’t always be in the spotlight. If the
company’s too busy, maybe Jonah should take care of things.”

Leah felt a sharp twinge of panic. “Mom, Jonah'’s always so busy with so much on his plate. | can manage these
small things on my own.”
“Alright,” Olympia agreed, nodding.
Leah lowered her head, concealing the cold look in her eyes.
Freya stepped outside to take an important call from the intermediary she had hired to reach out to Beacon
Hospital.
The intermediary spoke with care, “Master Field prefers his peace and quiet. He just got back last night, and
someone's been arranged to take care of him. But today, something cup at her place, and she had to leave.
I've kept things under wraps, but you'll need to step in for her, Ms. White.”
Freya's face turned pale with fury. “You wantto act as his maid?”
1, the proud eldest daughter of the Whites, am being asked to play the role of a servant?
“I know this is a lot to ask, Ms. White, but Master Field isn’t just anyone. Even powerful figures have been turned
away by him. If you show up uninvited, you might end up getting nothing in return.”
Freya's face hardened, clearly torn over the situation.
The intermediary continued, “Master Field may cacross as cold, but once you get to know him, he’s actually
quite approachable. If you want his help with a friend's treatment, you'll need to show sreal sincerity. If you
approach him right, it might just work out.”
