Basil had always been known for his mastery over good food.
"Ah, now you're finally getting it right!" he remarked with a satisfied grunt.

He gently tapped Charmaine on the nose, his hand raised in mock punishment, but he softened the impact at
the last moment.
"You insisted on going back with the Nelsons, and now you're realizing the mistake, huh?" he continued.
Charmaine felt her throat tighten at his words.
In her past life, after returning to the Nelsons, she had been too afraid to reach
out to her masters, fearing their anger or disappointment.
Because of that, she never had the chance to say goodbye properly.
They had helped her through the toughest times, giving her countless skills and a fresh start.

Yet, she had let her naive attachment to family waste their efforts, even missing her chance to repay them.
Unknowingly, she'd becthe stepping stone for Leah to change her fate.
Charmaine took a deep breath and said, "Master Field, I've already severed all ties with the Nelsons."
Basil's face remained calm, unaffected.
"Did you know already?" Charmaine asked, raising an eyebrow.
Basil grunted. "If you hadn't cut ties with the Nelsons after everything they did to you, I'd have marched over
there myself to knock ssense into you!"
Then, his tone shifted, taking on a more serious edge, as if waiting for her to cclean. "So, what's going on
with that kid from the Crosses? The one with the bad leg? Are you two involved?"
Charmaine felt a slight twitch at the corner of her lips. "I owe him a favor. | promised to help with his leg, but I'm
not skilled enough, so | had to ask you for help, Master Field."
Basil raised an eyebrow. "You're askingfor a big favor? Are you in love with him or what?"
Charmaine didn't respond. The conversation had shifted to something she wasn't quite ready to address.
Before she could explain further, the door to the shop swung open, and a familiar voice filled the air, brimming
with irritation.
Freya, dressed down in a simple white tracksuit, looked more understated than usual, but her arrogance
remained as clear as ever. With a Bluetooth headset in place, she was berating someone on the other end of the
line.
"How reliable is your information? I ran all the way over here to this filthy street to look for Master Field. Do you
seriously think someone like him would be in a place like this?" she snapped.
"I don't care! The money's already paid, and | need to meet Master Field!" she demanded, ending the call with a
sharp click.

couldn't even handle Emyr, and now you think you can get Master Field to clean up your mess and save face?"
Freya sneered. "Do you really think you deserve all the best things?"
Charmaine smiled faintly. "Ms. White, aren't you being a bit delusional? You can't even spot a con artist. I'd bet
you wouldn't even recognize Master Field if he were standing right in front of you."
Freya's face darkened, a storm of anger building inside her. She looked over at the elderly man sitting beside

Freya scoffed. "So you're tellingthis beggar-looking old man is Master Field? That's a good one, Charmaine. If
| were you, I'd head back to the Crosses and pack up. You might still have sdignity left if you leave now. But
once | find Master Field to fix Emyr's leg, my first demand will be for you to leave Eragos!"
With that, Freya turned and stormed out, her phone buzzing again in her hand.
Charmaine furrowed her brow but didn't let the interruption bother her. She turned back to Basil, only for him to
slap the table in irritation.

Charmaine was speechless.

Just as she was about to calm the old man down, the phone, which was set to 'Do Not Disturb, buzzed loudly.
Basil's face darkened further as he answered the call. After a brief moment, he asked, “Is the person looking for

Charmaine sighed and shook her head. With how set the old man was on getting revenge, Freya was definitely in
