Chapter 69 I took a deep breath and looked at the hallway. Selena didn't cout to look for me. Perhaps she was occupied with work.
But, Selena, soon, you wouldn't have to work hard like this.
"I'll discuss this with Selena. There's nothing more to talk about. This is how it's going to be, whether you agree or not." Without waiting for Zion's reply, I hung up.
When I returned to the room, Selena wasn't looking at her laptop. She was watching a TV show.

When I sat beside her, she turned to look atand said quietly, "Hudson, you're here." There was no joy in her voice.
Seeing her like this, I wasn't sure if my suspicions were correct, so I asked tentatively, "Why do you look so down? Was it something Andy said that upset you?" Selena shook her head and sighed.
She glanced at the TV, then picked up the remote and turned it off. Turning to face me, she sighed again, looking lost.
"I... I don't know. I don't feel like there's anything to be happy about. I just suddenly feel so lost." "I'm here in the hospital every day, and I don't feel like going anywhere else. I feel like I have nothing to do, and that life is boring. Yet it also feels like there are so many things waiting forto do. I want to do them, but when I try to get up, I don't feel like doing it anymore..." Selena rambled on, and I just sat quietly, listening to her.
Back then, to distract myself from the pain of Selena's infidelity and pull myself out of that sorrow, I threw myself into work.
I worked hard, negotiating with clients and securing projects, running around constantly, picking up calls every second. During that period, I was so busy that I couldn't even get six hours of sleep a night.
I contributed a lot to the company, to the point that they held a celebratory banquet for me. I was publicly praised in meetings more than once, but I was still unhappy. I was faking smiles throughout.
Later, I accepted a transfer to Carzonia. Though it was still an executive position, the pace of life there was much slower than in Adenville. Everyone lived at a leisurely pace, and that atmosphere gradually influenced me.
I learned to accept that the promotion might actually be a demotion, trying to ease sof my homesickness.
