Chapter 47 The person at the door paused for a moment, then quickly closed it again, and I could hear hurried footsteps- presumably going to find someone.

I looked at the file in my hands and began to flip through it.

Since it belonged to Selena's company, I didn't fully grasp the specifics, but from my quick review, it didn't seem to have any major issues. Still, there was something odd about it that I couldn't quite pinpoint.

Noticing my actions, Selena frowned. "You don't need to worry about this document. I'll handle it with Andy," she said coldly while taking the file back from me.

"Actually, I could help if you need it. I may not know all the details about your project, but I can assist with sbasics," I replied, looking at her earnestly.

Selena glanced down at the file, let out a cold laugh, and then met my gaze with a look filled with indifference and sorrow. "Hudson, since you refuse to reconcile with me, don't pretend to care. I don't need your concern or your help." I understood that she was still upset about what happened yesterday, and I didn't take her words to heart-they were just temporary outbursts.

However, with her rejecting my help, I felt powerless. I watched her in silence, sighing inwardly. Sometimes, I truly wondered why our relationship had becso strained.

Half an hour later, the door opened.

Zion appeared with a laptop bag, looking displeased. He walked over to Selena, who was absorbed in her documents. As if he understood her choice, he handed her the laptop.

"You could have just asked Andy for an electronic copy of the contract. There was no need to make it this complicated," he pointed out kindly.

Selena ignored his suggestion and deftly opened the laptop. She pulled out her phone from the bedside and scanned a QR code to log in, then clicked on a cartoon avatar to send a few messages.

From her expression, I could guess that the cartoon avatar belonged to Andy.

Oddly enough, the sAndy who had initially refused to help Selena sent the electronic copy of the contract without hesitation after Selena sent her a few messages, seemingly forgetting our prior arrangement.

She opened the electronic file and scrolled a few times, her brows furrowing. She then looked at both of us and firmly issued an order, "I need to discuss something with Andy. You two need to leave. I don't want to be disturbed."

Since it was her request, neither Zion nor I dared to say much. AfterZion offered a few words of concern, he ledout of the room.

As I glanced back at Selena's fierce and determined expression, I briefly caught a glimpse of the ambitious woman I had known in college. The vibrant, stunning Selena who had captured my heart for so long.

But alas, those days were gone forever.
