Chapter 292:
That night, RK didn’t chome. Stella waited for him the entire night, and in the end, all the food she had
prepared went cold. She woke up several times, dozing at the dining table, and finally, with disappointment, she
headed upstairs to sleep.
She remembered telling the servant to throw away the food the next morning. But when she woke up, she saw
the food had been eaten. The servant told her that RK had chlate, but he didn’t want to wake her when
he saw her sleeping. The servant also mentioned that RK had liked her gift.
She looked down and saw that the small flower plant she had carefully prepared for him was indeed gone from
the dining table.
To be honest, she was disappointed. She had wanted to give the flower to RK in person, but he hadn't come
hthat night.
This incident left a deep impression on RK as well.

At the time, RK didn’t intend to work late, but Sophia’s treatment had reached a critical point, and he didn’t want
to celebrate his birthday. He hadn't expected Stella to wait for him at hall night. It was very late when he
finished, and for sreason, he just wanted to go home, even if only to grab a change of clothes.
He had plenty of clothes, a wardrobe full of suits in his office lounge, so there was no need to go home. But
something pulled him there.
When he arrived, the house was still brightly lit. The servants were clearing the table, and when they saw RK,
they seemed excited.
It was a different feeling than usual, and RK found it strange. Why were the servants so happy to see him that
night?
“Sir, you're back. Mrs. Kingston waited for you all night.”
“Hmm?” RK was genuinely surprised.
“Mrs. Kingston prepared a whole table of dishes for you, and she also left you a gift,” the servant said, handing
him a small box. “But she went to bed after waiting for too long.”

RK took the box, and to his surprise, he felt a tightness in his chest.
He went upstairs to their bedroom and saw that the lights were still on, and the door was slightly open. When he
entered, Stella was already fast asleep, her slippers barely hanging off her feet.
Quietly, RK walked over, slipped off her slippers, and gently lifted her into the middle of the bed, tucking her in
comfortably. After standing there for a moment, he turned off the lights and left the room.
She had dark circles under her eyes from not sleeping well, and he hadn't known she had prepared everything
for him. He hadn't realized that she’d bought him a gift. Since his childhood, RK had never celebrated his
birthday.
His mother passed away early, and no one had really looked after him. Few people even remembered when his
birthday was. Not even Sophia knew. For the first time, RK felt what it was like to be cherished, and it felt good.
The next evening, over dinner, RK had asked her why she had bought him the little plant. He already knew she
never liked spending his money and had used her own small savings to buy him the gift. She didn’t even touch

“It's not just a little plant,” she had told him, embarrassed. “Take good care of it, and it will bloom into a beautiful
flower.”
It was her way of covering her awkwardness, but he remembered it fondly. That little plant becone of his
most cherished possessions.
Although it had been six years, the plant never bloomed. It hadn't changed at all. But every tRK looked at it,
it reminded him of that night, of her waiting for him at home, the warm lights, the food, and her presence. It was
as though she had been waiting all along, just like the plant.
“Stella, do you remember? | even thanked you back then,” RK said softly, smiling as he combed her hair gently,
as if she were his wife of many years. “You were so surprised when | thanked you.
It was the first tanyone had givena gift since | was a child. People only cared about my grades or my
performance at work. The first personal gift | ever received was from you. And I'll never forget it.”
RK continued to talk to her, reminiscing with a smile as if they had spent decades together, his love for her
growing with every memory he recalled.
