Chapter 180

As expected, half an hour later, Sallie arrived at the hospital.

Sheila took her leave.

The moment Sallie saw Timothy, still unconscious, hooked up to an IV and receiving a blood transfusion, her

heart nearly broke. His neck was bandaged, and the sight of him like this made her furious and terrified all at

once. Without a moment's hesitation, she went to find a doctor and demanded an explanation.

She learned that Timothy had passed out from massive blood loss after someone had bitten through the artery in

his neck.

Rage flared in Sallie's chest.

Who else could have done this but Jessica? No one else would get that close- anyone else, and Timothy would've

tossed them out on their ear.

Fuming, Sallie dialed Jessica's number.

No answer.

She called Mabel next. Mabel said Jessica had gone out.

That only made Sallie angrier. She sent people out to search for Jessica everywhere.

Meanwhile, Jessica had just left The Gilded Whisper Estates and texted Vince, asking when he'd bring the cash

over.

Vince replied that he'd run into Timothy right outside the Estates, and Timothy had taken the money, promising

to pass it on to her.

When Jessica read the message, her knees nearly gave out.

Timothy was doing everything he could to cut her off financially. Now that the money was in his hands, getting it

back would be nearly impossible.

He really was determined to back her into a corner.

But that money was hers. No matter what, she had to get it back from Timothy!

She thought back to Timothy's condition earlier-he'd lost a dangerous amount of blood. Sheila would have taken

him to the nearest hospital for treatment, which could only mean Riverside General.

Jessica flagged down a cab and rode to Riverside General Hospital. At the front desk, she found out which room

Timothy was in and headed upstairs.

As she reached the door to his room, Sallie stormed out, phone pressed to her ear, frustration written all over her

face.

The moment Sallie saw her, she hung up.

"I've been calling you nonstop! I've got people out looking for you, Jessica-have you lost your mind? How could

you try to kill your own husband?"

She was trembling with anger.

Jessica shot her a cold glance and said nothing. She pushed past Sallie and walked into the room.

"Jessica! Get back here!"

Sallie tried to grab her, intent on giving her a piece of her mind, but Jessica pulled free and strode in anyway.

Sallie's raised voice must have woken Timothy, because he stirred, eyelids fluttering open.

Sallie rushed after Jessica, grabbing her arm, eyes blazing with accusation as she pointed at Timothy. "Do you

even know who he is? No one in the entire Lawson family would dare touch a hair on his head, but you what

were you thinking, biting him like that?"

Her voice broke on the last words. This was her little brother, the one she'd cherished since they were kids. The

thought of him losing so much blood made her heart ache.

"Sal.

Sallie turned, finally realizing Timothy was awake.

"Timothy!" She hurried to his bedside, her voice trembling with worry. "Does it hurt?"

"It's just a scratch. Since Jessica's here, you should go home."

Sallie's voice shot up an octave. "She put you in this state-how can I leave you with her?"

Timothy arched an eyebrow. "Do you really think I'm so weak she could finishoff?"

"It's not about being weak. She bit through your artery and you didn't even fight back. What if she comes at you

with a knife next time? Are you just going to let her?"

"Enough. Stop fussing. Go home—I want to speak to her alone."

Sallie knew her brother's stubborn streak. She didn't argue further, just stood up and, as she passed Jessica, shot

her a glare so sharp it could cut glass.
