Chapter142 What Exactly Did You Tell My Mother? "I only told... told the truth!" Fiona stammered.

"What truth! Aboutmarrying Kelvin or about my miscarriage?" Either truth was unbearable for Mrs. Cooper.

All mothers in the world ache for their children.

Swallowing hard, Fiona insisted, "Regardless, it's all true! I didn't make anything up!" Penelope's eyes blazed with fury. "Stay put; don't you dare move. You better pray that my mom is okay!" "If anything happens, it's not my fault!" "Fiona!" Pushing her forcefully, Penelope confronted her, and they both started grappling. Her parents were her lifelines. Today, she was determined to make Fiona pay.

Fiona, not to be outdone, snapped back, grabbing Penelope's hair and yanking it viciously. A women's brawl was typically a tangle of hair-pulling and clothes-ripping. Bystanders were unsure of how to intervene, they just stood by anxiously.

Meanwhile, at the Davis Group headquarters.

In the CEO's office, Kelvin was in the middle of a meeting with a handful of company executives.

"Mr. Davis!" Ryan busted in, panic etched on his face.

Kelvin glanced up, "What's the matter." "Mrs. Davis... she's..." Kelvin, who had been composed moments before, stood abruptly, his voice laced with concern, "What about her?" "Mrs. Davis got into a fight at the sanatorium!" "A fight?!" Snatching up his car keys, Kelvin rushed out the door, disregarding the ongoing meeting. The executives exchanged puzzled looks. This Mrs. Davis... she certainly was somebody.

Just the previous week, she was whispering sweet nothings to Mr. Davis over the phone, her voice so tender it could drip honey. This time, she had taken the drastic step of getting physical. Who on earth did Mr. Davis marry? Kelvin raced toward the sanatorium, "Who did she get into a fight with?" "Fiona." "Over what?" "Mrs. Cooper was rushed into surgery because Fiona said something that greatly upset her." Kelvin's face turned grim.

Fiona, she just couldn't keep out of trouble! A woman of endless ! Outside the operating room, it took the security guards a great deal of effort to separate Penelope and Fiona.

Judging by their injuries, Penelope emerged unscathed, with only her hair slightly disheveled.

In contrast, Fiona's clothes were torn, barely covering her body, and she bore several scratch marks on her face. Clumps of her hair, pulled out by Penelope, lay scattered on the floor.

"Penelope, this is too much!" Fiona clutched her chest, "I'm going to fight back!" As she spoke, she charged again, but Penelope mocked with a cold laugh, "To think I didn't hit you hard enough? Con, I'm not afraid!" Penelope, thinking of her mother facing a life-or-death situation inside the operating room, wished she could end Fiona! Just as they were about to clash again, a firm voice commanded, "Stop it, both of you!" Kelvin had arrived. The sound of his dress shoes could be heard tapping against the floor as he hastily approached.

"Mr. Davis!" Fiona sobbed uncontrollably, "Thank goodness you're here. If this continues... Penelope is going to kill me!" Kelvin furrowed his brow, his face impassive as he surveyed Fiona's disheveled state.

Then he quickly turned to Penelope. She was alright, not defeated. A wave of relief washed over Kelvin.

At that moment, the doors of the operating room burst open. The doctor cout, grim-faced. "The patient is critical. We need a family member to sign off and make the payment immediately." Kelvin spoke decisively, "Do whatever it takes to save her!" He knew if anything happened to Mrs. Cooper, Penelope would be devastated.

"We'll do our best!" the doctor reassured her. The operating room doors closed again. Two hours had passed, and there was still no sign of the surgery coming to an end.

Penelope's legs becweak, nearly giving out beneath her.

"Careful." Kelvin stepped forward and caught her in his arms.

But Penelope was having none of it and pushed his hands away, "Don't touch me! You asshole" He pursed his lips, "Why are you lashing out at me?" "Fiona wouldn't dare behave like this if it wasn't for your support!" Penelope yelled, "And this isn't the first tshe's done something like this!" she stated.

Fiona immediately cried foul, "I didn't do anything! Mr. Davis, all I did was chat with Mrs. Cooper for a minute! I never laid a finger on her! She's sick, and it could just be my bad luck to be there when she had an episode!" The nerve of her, playing the victim! Penelope pointed a finger right at her nose, "Then tell me, what did you two discuss?" "I... I can't remember!" Fiona insisted, "Just strivial household stuff!" "You're just afraid to say!" Fiona accused her.

"It's true, I don't remember," Fiona waved dismissively, "your insistence isn't going to jog my memory." Penelope's gaze dropped to the ring on Fiona's finger. It's all right even if Fiona refused to talk. No matter what happens, Penelope would find out! Fiona had been wearing that ring all day, and she didn't know it was bugged. Every word she said had been recorded! Penelope said, "Wait and see, Fiona!" "You had already beatup like this. What do you want now?" "I want to hit you smore!" exclaimed Penelope, brsitling at the sight of Fiona's bruised face as she moved to confront her again.

Happy reading! But Kelvin grabbed her, "Stop it." "You're stopping me?" Penelope turned to look at him, "What, do you feel sorry for Fiona when she gets hit?" Kelvin instructed the bodyguard beside him, "Take Fiona away." "Yes, Mr. Davis."

"Don't let her leave!" Penelope shouted, stopping him, "She caused my mother's emergency, and she thinks she can just walk away? No way!" "Her staying here serves no purpose." Penelope challenged him, "Kelvin, are you covering for her?" He didn't answer.

She scoffed, "What if I want to hit Fiona now?" "Not in front of me." Kelvin said.

Despite his indifference towards Fiona and her behavior, he couldn't disregard their

past fleeting encounter. He still held Fiona ssentiment for that night. Seeing her chance, Fiona burst into tears, "Mr. Davis, you have no idea how heavy Penelope's hand is. My face is almost disfigured. I've lost so much hair... How am I supposed to live like this?" "Get her out!" Kelvin said sternly to the bodyguard, "What are you waiting for?" The bodyguard took Fiona by the arm and led her away.

Penelope tried to follow, but Kelvin wrapped his arms firmly around her waist, "Still want to fight?" "Yes! I'd beat her senseless if I could!" "You're quite fierce." "That's right, I'm not a delicate Fiona who only knows how to cry." Penelope lifted her chin, "Seeing her get what she deserves, does that upset you?"
