Once the doctor left, I exhaled in relief.

"Sorry for making you worry." Jasper smiled back, squeezing my hand gently. His eyes held warmth as he said, "Rosaline, I'm so glad I woke up and saw you. I didn't expect you to stay by my side and take care of me." "Stop saying that," I replied, gently adjusting his blanket "You took a bullet for me, so of course I'm going to take care of you." I reminded him softly, "You've just woken up, so don't move around too much. The doctor said your wound hasn't fully healed yet. And no solid food for now. You need to stick to liquids to help your stomach recover." I kept talking, but Jasper's eyes were fixed on my face. He occasionally nodded in response, his gaze intense.
