Chapter 0508
Evangeline hesitated, torn by doubt.
Though she said nothing, Simon could read her thoughts as clearly as if she'd spoken them.
"Serena wants you dead," Simon said, his grip on her wrist tightening. "And you're still willing to hold back? You
see her as family, but she sees you as her enemy. She's plotting with Helena to take your life.
"You know this better than anyone, yet you refuse to fight back. You cling to the idea of a bond that doesn't exist,
hoping she'll have a change of heart. But it's been years, Evangeline. Her hatred hasn't lessened. It has only
grown stronger."
Simon's voice softened but carried a steely edge. "Serena isn't the older sister who once shielded you with open
arms. She's consumed by power now. She believes everything you have is hers, that your survival was solely due
to her protection. And because of that, she thinks she's entitled to your throne, your life, everything."
Evangeline's chest tightened at his words.

If it hadn't been for Serena all those years ago, she might not be alive today. That debt had weighed heavily on
her, keeping her silent no matter what Serena did. Even when Serena conspired with Helena to kill her,
Evangeline turned a blind eye.
But her leniency had only emboldened Serena, deepening her belief that Evangeline owed her. That belief had
festered, transforming Serena into a relentless adversary, willing to do anything to take what she believed was
rightfully hers.
Simon saw the conflict flicker across Evangeline's face. He leaned closer and added gently, "If the roles had been
reversed, you would have protected her, too. That's what family does. You don't owe her anything, Evangeline.’
Her hands clenched into fists, her nails digging into her palms.
"Promise me," she said, her voice trembling but resolute. "That unless it's absolutely necessary, you won't hurt
Serena. She may have abandoned her humanity, but | won't abandon mine. She's still the only family | have left
in this world."
Simon hesitated before nodding. "Alright."
Their eyes met in a brief, unspoken understanding before Simon suddenly collapsed to the ground.
"Simon!" Evangeline cried out, dropping to her knees beside him. Her voice cracked with panic. "Simon, wake
up! Don't do this to me! Look at me!"

"What? Suzy actually killed Simon?" Serena's laughter rang out, filled with unrestrained glee. "I had my doubts at
first, thinking she might be too clever to fall for it, that there was a chance she'd see through our setup. But she
actually believed us and acted so quickly! | can't believe how easily she played into our hands!"
Serena's excitement only grew. "With Simon gone, Evangeline has lost her strongest ally- not to mention the
man she loves most. Taking her down will be so much simpler now."
She paused, her eyes gleaming with malicious delight. "And let's not forget Suzy and Dylan. Imagine this: at
Simon's funeral, we tell Suzy the truth that Simon was her real brother all along. Can you picture it? She killed

on the spot!"
Her voice grew sharper, her tone dripping with venom. "Once Suzy is out of the way, Dylan's life will be mine to
take whenever | see fit."
The woman hidden in the shadows let out a low, menacing laugh. "Dylan should've been dead
years ago. I've let him linger long enough, but it won't be for much longer. Soon, I'll personally send him to
reunite with his parents in the afterlife."
