(Victoria's POV)

An overwhelming fear envelopedas | frantically fumbled for my phone with trembling hands. My wolf

whimpered beneath my skin as | dialed the emergency line for the Silvercrest Pack Medical Den.

"Emergency services, this is Dr. Harrison Fletcher speaking."

"Doctor, this is Victoria Frost. Emma is dying!" My voice cracked with desperation. "We're at Moonlight Manor.

She has a high fever and she's unconscious. Please hurry!"

"We'll dispatch a medical transport immediately. Keep her warm and monitor her breathing."

| hung up and lowered my gaze to the limp girl in my arms. Her face was pale as moonlight, lips tinged blue from

the cold.

"Emma, hold on. You mustn't have anything happen to you, do you hear me!" | patted her face gently but

urgently.

Though Emma heard my plea, she was too weak to reply. Her consciousness was fading as her wolf retreated

deeper within her weakened body.

While waiting for the medical transport, | desperately pounded on the reinforced doors of Moonlight Manor. The

sound echoed through the empty courtyard like gunshots.

"Ethan, Emma is dying! Please, cout and take her to the medical den!"

| shouted through the mind-link barrier, but our severed mate bond meant nothing reached him. | clung to the

hope that if Alpha King Ethan Stone saw Emma's condition, his heart would soften.

But the manor's soundproof walls blocked my cries. Ethan, deep in his study, heard nothing through the severed

mate bond.

The wailing of sirens cut through the night air. When the medical transport arrived, Emma was already in shock.

The onboard healer's face was grave as he fought to keep her alive. "What happened to her?" he demanded

while checking her vitals.

"She had a fever. It con suddenly," | lied, my wolf retreating from the truth.

The journey to the Silvercrest Pack Medical Den was frantic. Emma's breathing grew more labored with each

passing minute.

Upon arrival, Emma was rushed into the emergency treatment chamber. | clung to Dr. Harrison Fletcher's white

coat as they wheeled her away.

"Doctor, you must save her. She cannot die."

The doctor's expression was frustrated. He knew post-surgical care should have been paramount for a young

wolf.

"Every wasted second is a risk to her life," he said curtly. "How long has she been like this?"

"Il... | don't know. Please, just save her!"

Only then did I reluctantly let go. The doctor disappeared into the emergency chamber, leavingalone in the

sterile hallway.

Seconds stretched into years as | waited outside the emergency chamber. Not out of maternal love, but fear-fear

that Emma's death would spell my own ruin.

Memories of my tangled relationships flooded my mind. Betraying the pack's trust even after being with Ethan.

Plotting to use Ethan's Alpha status. Conceiving Emma through deception.

| had always resented Emma, blaming her for the chain of events that led to my rise and the loss of my coveted

position as Luna. My hatred persisted from Emma's birth through her seventh year, wishing for the child's death.

Now, facing the possibility, panic grippedfor my own sake. My wolf whimpered with self-preservation rather

than maternal instinct.

If Emma died, Connor would have no reason to protect me. He would hand over the evidence to Ethan without

hesitation.

The long night passed in agonizing silence. At dawn, the emergency chamber doors finally opened.

| rushed to Dr. Harrison Fletcher, desperate for good news. His face was drawn with exhaustion.

"Sorry, we've done everything we can," the doctor said heavily, his healing abilities exhausted.

"What do you mean?" My voice rose to a shriek.

"Emma's infection has overwhelmed her young wolf's natural healing. It's beyond saving."

In denial, | grabbed the doctor's white coat, screaming accusations. "You're lying! Do something more! Use

stronger moonlight herbs!"

Dr. Fletcher, coldly retorted, "If you'd brought her earlier, her wolf might have been strong enough to fight this.

Do you think healers are moon goddesses?"

His words stung with truth, but | refused to accept them. Convinced the fault lay with the doctor and not myself,

| tried to call Ethan through our severed mate bond.

Nothing. The connection was completely blocked.

| snatched a nurse's phone from the nearby station. "I need to make a call!"

at the dying child, watching only medical monitors.

The steady beeping was growing slower, more irregular. | clung to the delusion

that Emma would survive, just as she had before.

Using the nurse's phone, | dialed Ethan's direct line. "Ethan, Emma's at the medical den. The doctor says she

can't be saved. Please, do something!"

But the Alpha King coldly hung up. His wolf retreated from any connection to me.

On the bed, Emma's eyes flickered with hope at the mention of her supposed father. But as the call

disconnected, the light in her golden eyes died.

| called again and again. Each unanswered call deepened my terror as Emma's condition worsened.

(Ethan's POV)

| was not unmoved. | knew of Emma's condition through pack communications but chose not to intervene.

| had endured enough manipulation from Victoria. Now she could experience the shelplessness | once felt.

My only message to Dr. Fletcher through the pack link was brief: "Do your best."

The rest, | left to the Moon Goddess's will. My wolf remained distant and cold. (Emma's POV)

Enraged, Victoria tried to smash the nurse's phone. But the nurse quickly retrieved it.

At that moment, | grabbed the nurse's hand with what little strength remained. My young wolf was barely

flickering within me.

"Nurse sister, can you send a message to Alpha Ethan for me?" | whispered. "Tell him Emma is really dying... She

really wants to see Daddy one last time..."

The nurse, moved by compassion for the dying pup, nodded. "Of course, sweetheart."

She sent the message word for word through the pack communication system. | waited, golden eyes fixed on the

phone, hoping for a reply.

But none came.

The nurse tried calling, but the call was rejected and then blocked. Tears welled in my eyes as | realized Daddy

would not come.

Memories of brief moments of kindness from Daddy filled my last moments. The way he used to carryon his

shoulders. How he would readbedtime

stories.

Regret consumed me. If only | had been a true Stone pack member, maybe | would not die alone.

| looked toward Mom, but received not even a glance. My wolf cried out for the mother who never loved me.

The monitors aroundbegan to flatline. The world grew dark and cold.

(Ethan's POV)

As Emma's life slipped away, her final wish remained unfulfilled. | read her message through the pack link but

did not come.

| only sent a brief response to Dr. Fletcher through our Alpha connection. Then |

sat in silence in my study at Moonlight Manor.

Hours later, | received the reply through the pack bond: "Alpha Stone, my

condolences. The young one has passed."

Gripping my phone, | rose, washed, changed, and left. Not for the medical den,

but for the Shadowfall Detention Center.

| found the imprisoned rogue who had deceived my pack. Through the reinforced glass, | told him simply: "Emma

is dead. Victoria killed her."
